Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable but strong characters has made her one of today's greatest American actors. Her father was a renowned writer, however she was raised as a single child with a single mother and nurse. Through the summer months, while with her dad, Linney developed a passion for theater. Her first stage experience was first at Brown University then at Juilliard School. Her Broadway career shortly after graduating in the year 2000, before making her television debut the following year. Innumerable appearances in movies, television shows and stage productions since then. Her nominations include three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her career. While she has received numerous awards through the years, performing was always her primary love.
