Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. Her first Broadway performances, she starred the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In her performance as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director, has spent the majority of her career working with well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford's next venture will be a limited edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford will return in 2023 and will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the production. Ashford's latest role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Her two-season stint on the CBS show B Positive was her first big role. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are amongst her additional Broadway performances. Ashford, who was born in Denver is now based between Los Angeles and New York.
